Happy Week 10!

Hope everyone is recovering okay from EBP. We just the person to cheer you up from your Midterm blues...Miss Abby Ancheta! Her bright smile is enough to brighten anyone's day! :)

Let's get to know more about Miss Abby...

1. If you could give your first year self advice for second year. what would it be and why?

I’d say try your best to balance. 2nd year is when things start to pick up in a pace you’re not normally used to. Don’t kill yourself with school. Keep it as a top priority but don’t forget about your other priorities. For me, it’s all about that spending time with family, boyfriend, friends, etc. and reminding myself that it’s all under God’s control. There is such thing as over practicing and over studying (also not enough studying haha). Just make sure you’re learning all you can to be a good optometrist for your patients and accept that there are just some things you can’t learn in the classroom. Of course, pass boards but we have the rest of our professional careers to master everything.

2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Possibly working in either a group practice somewhere in Socal or maybe handling my own practice. Married and with kids maybe?

3. What are your plans for Spring Break?
I'm going to visit my best friend, Rhea, in Flo-ridaaa!!! We've been the best of friends since middle school and she recently got married last Fall and had to move away because her husband's from there. One of the saddest moments of my life but I can't wait to be reunited and see her baby bump!

4. Tell us something surprising about yourself.
I'm a Bone Thugs n Harmony master (I've been told I have a ghetto fabulous side). And girl, please. I prefer to eat the whole sandwich rather than share with you.

5. If you could describe yourself in 3 words, what would they be?
Easy going/understanding/compassionate
Updates:
Evening Eyensteins!!

Hope you all got to take a short break today to watch the Super Bowl! Sorry for the late email, I definitely lost track of time. Winter quarter is so long… but it’s finally Week 10.

Reminders:
1.    Just a follow up on Dr. Lam’s email, make sure to keep the CL lab clean - cap the drops, shut down computers, and cover the equipment when you’re done. We all use the space, so lets all keep it nice and clean :)
2.    Lecture Capture - we’ve noticed that LC has been cutting off at 50 minutes rather than 55 minutes… Matt Breneman is aware of this and should be making the change! If you notice anything else that’s weird let us know.
3.    Contact Lens Practice Stuff:
a.    CL solutions available for check-out in the library.
b.    Solutions, NaFl, Q-tips - there is a box in C218 and one in C225. Please return the appropriate boxes to their home when you’re done.
c.    Burton lamps - available in C225
